Mud and Wood Chips

Earlier this week, it was raining cats and dogs (or hens and cockrels), and, as always, the ground on which the chicken coop is built turned into a slippery, squelchy quagmire. We decided it was about time to make the ground more drainable, so we got to action and set to work spreading wood chips. So far it's working well...OK, it hasn't rained yet, so we haven't really tested it out, but the chickens love it. The wood chips are full of grubs and are much more fun to scratch in than clay soil.

And before we forget, did we mention the wood chips were free? Found on the Law!
